Explore China, province by province

Why not take a trip to the "Middle Kingdom"? China has 22 provinces (23 if you include Taiwan), 4 municipalities directly under the central government, 5 autonomous regions, and 2 special administrative regions.
The municipalities directly under the central government include Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Chongqing.
The autonomous regions, which are commonly regarded as provinces but have greater autonomy, include Guangxi, Tibet, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. The reason they have been granted greater autonomy is that a large part of their population belongs to ethnic minorities.
The two special administrative regions are Hong Kong and Macau, which until recently were foreign colonies. Their political and social systems differ significantly from those of the mainland; for example, they are considerably more democratic. We aim to describe at least some of the provinces—China is vast, but our goal as an association is to be able to explore every part of China. Maybe not physically, but we hope to write about the different provinces here on this page! To succeed, we will need some help from our members who may have visited these areas or have information that could be of interest to others!
